{"id":25,"date":"2012-11-05T13:43:41","date_gmt":"2012-11-05T13:43:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bartons.org.uk\/?page_id=25"},"modified":"2012-11-05T13:43:41","modified_gmt":"2012-11-05T13:43:41","slug":"xen-server-hints-stuck-vm","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bartons.org.uk\/?page_id=25","title":{"rendered":"Xen server hints &#8211; Stuck VM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Xenserver basics<\/p>\n<p><strong>A stuck and hang VM on Xenserver<\/strong><br \/>\nPosted by n4zrnet on January 8, 2012<\/p>\n<p>Needed to upgrade the XenServer (v6.0) host memory, while shutting down the VM\u2019s running on the host, i encountered, two of windows x64 guests stuck and hung while shutting down.<br \/>\nWhen attempted to force shutdown, it complained that \u201cAnother operation involving the object is currently in progress \u201c<\/p>\n<p>Goggling for the error found the following link which fixed the issue:<br \/>\nhere and here<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s quote from one of the post that finally fix it for me (you need to login to server\u2019s shell to execute the below command) :<br \/>\n1 &#8211; \u201cxe vm-list\u201d to get the uuid of the VM that is hung<\/p>\n<p>2 \u2013 \u201clist_domains\u201d to list the domain uuid\u2019s so you can determine the domain # of the VM above by matching the uuids from this output with<br \/>\nthe uuid for your VM from the previous command.<\/p>\n<p>3 \u2013 \u201c\/opt\/xensource\/debug\/destroy_domain -domid XX\u201d where XX is the domain number from the previous command<\/p>\n<p>4 \u2013 \u201cxe vm-reboot uuid=XXXX \u2013force\u201d where XXXX is the uuid from the first vm-list command for your VM.
